Belmont can be accessed on the trails Belmont Trig, Belmont Regional Park - Oakleigh to Hill, Puke Ariki Traverse, Belmont Tadpole Loop, Pareraho to Cornish and Loop the Hutt Valley from our trail directory.
I took the Belmont Trig trail starting and ending at Cornish Street. I was surprised how relatively flat it was until the last 2-3 km up to the trig. The first 3 km winds through a valley next to the Korokoro stream, the last 3km to the trig climbs up through the beautiful native bush - plenty of birdsong. Above the tree line the trail is quite sheltered from wind in most cases by scrub on either side of the track. Unfortunately it was cloudy when I did the trail and so was no view at the top.
