Start from Falls Rd Carpark on the Whatitiri Track, firstly across the embankment before getting onto the farm track. Follow this through a river crossing up into the first hills. You will need to cross a farm paddock, stay left and follow the fence line until you hit the second farm track. This track will lead up towards Long Road Track, turn left at the junction and follow this gravel farm track up to the top.
At this stage there is a wooden gate to a grass track on the left, follow this to continue on the Long Road Track until you hit the Simla Junction. Take the left turning onto Fence Line Track and follow this down along the Waitakere Reservoir to the dam. Cross the dam and head towards the Waitakere Tramline Walk. Access to the Tramline Track is down a steep set of stairs off the Waitakere Dam Walk. Follow the Tramline, through a short tunnel to the West Tunnel Mouth Track, before turning left onto the Anderson Track. The Anderson Track will take you through to the Auckland City Walk, which you will turn left onto. This will lead you back to the start and your car park.
Couple small river crossings, tramlines, short tunnel and other interesting items to see on the way.
