Starting at the parking area, head up the well-made Lyrebird Trail, looking out for a right-hand turn-off to Bowen Trail at about 800-900m - if you find yourself back at the carpark you've missed it!

Once on Bowen, head straight uphill (passing a bench with a nice lookout partway up if you need a rest) until you reach a trail junction. Turn right and head up and along the ridge (bush-clad most of the way). Depending on how recently it's been re-marked, this part of the trail can be hard to follow, especially when it has snow, and can take longer than expected. Look out for the pink tape and rock cairns, and make sure you're prepared to navigate.

After Tidbinbilla Peak and especially after Mt John, the trail gets much clearer and well-trodden. Head down from Mt John until the junction with the Camelback fire road, enjoy a last wee climb up to bag Camels Hump, then turn around and start your homeward trip along Camelback fire road - a fun, runnable blast, mostly downhill, and very enjoyable after the more challenging travel along the ridge.

Head all the way along the fire road until you get back to the carpark where you started.

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.

To enter the park with a vehicle you'll need to pay a small fee towards maintenance at the Tidbinbilla Visitors Centre, which opens at 7.30am each day.
