This loop is only possible because of work by The Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust, founded by the late Sir Neil and Lady Diana Isaac, generously opening up their property to allow pedestrian access from the Groynes area through to the Waimakariri River.
Passing through the Isaac Farm Walk, it joins up with the Templar's Island Trail heading downstream to the Ōtukaikino Trail which runs parallel with the Northern Motorway until it passes through The Groynes and back to the carpark.
Wetlands restoration efforts by both Council and the Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust and great views across the Waimakariri River. The Isaac Farm Walk passes through sites of ecological significance and is home to a rare native musk.
If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
Safe, sign posted, off road car park specifically for walkers (and runners!) on Clearwater Avenue, near the golf course.

Easy.
Most potential dead-end side trails become very obvious within a minute or less so no major distance added if you take a wrong turn.
Generally good.
Long-sleeved thermal top, Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Cellphone, Map
Best to carry your own. There are public toilets at the 15.5k mark (White's Crossing) but potability of the water is unknown.
Some parts of the trail look prone to surface water ponding. Avoid the trail during extreme weather events as the Templar's Island Trail is river side of the flood banks and therefore exposed to flood risk if the river gets high.
When passing through The Groynes, take care if swans are near the trail. At times of the year they can be "rather protective" of their mates and young.

I usually prefer the hills but this was a pleasant outing through the countryside and along babbling waterways. It felt very English to my American sensibilities. Endless hedgerow followed by endless frontage tracks along the Waimak. Quite peaceful on a misty spring morning. I bet it gets hot in summer! If it’s lambing season and you’re wondering if the track is open, you could probably ring them at https://isaacconservation.org.nz/conservation/flora/isaac-walkway.

These overlap with this trail to some degree. You may wish to combine them but please note that to qualify for FKTs on these runs you should record a separate activity for each.
