This is an easy to follow trail that loops around a series of lakes, streams and a predator-proof fenced area. Mostly formed trail with the exception of about the final kilometre when it follows the predator fencing around the reserve. This is a maintained grass strip but can be muddy at times - there are footpath options nearby if wet/muddy feet don't appeal.

An awesome wetland restoration project, this is quite the hidden gem. Lots of different bird life.

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.

Plenty of parking in the reserve car park.

Easy.

Only tricky bit is around by the dog exercise area, make sure you head towards Hussey Road at this point, still on the gravel trail. The path then forks left onto the footpath or right into the trees - go right.

Perfect throughout.

Windproof jacket, Cellphone, Map

There is a drink fountain in the dog exercise area, which would require a slight deviation off the trail loop but not major.

The trail is low lying in places and by their very nature the wetlands may get extra wet at times. The grass strip later in the run could be slippery.

Trail Reviews

Nice short flat loop. The mud has dried up now, although I encountered knee high grass instead! Few variations to keep things interesting.

I really liked the first half - it smelled great, like being out in nature. The second half was much more suburban except for the gnarly mud after the past day and a half of rains. I was glad to be forewarned by other commenters. I just trotted gaily through the calf deep mud. Mild flashbacks to Stewart Island, lol.

Perfect recovery loop! Really pretty with lots of bird life on the way round. Autumn colours are spectacular at the moment but a short section was ankle-deep in water so that was interesting. Will definitely come back and run this loop in future.
