Explore another part of the ever expanding and growing network of trails in the Te Kuru wetlands. These wetlands have been developed to help return Christchurch to a more natural setting in terms of its storm water treatment and quality of major waterway headwaters. A happy by product is the new trail network and recreational opportunities that come with it.

This route is a nice little out and back connection linking the eastern and western sides of the wetlands. You could easily link with 2 other trail directors in the Westmorland Wetland and the other Te Kuru route to make a 10-13km run and get 3 for the price of 1 on the trail directory.

From the Cashmere Rd carpark head round the eastern end of the wetland and pick up the trails that wind their way all the way to Sparks Road. Loads of nice flowing trails, native plantings and quaint bridges to pass through.

Return largely the same way but for variety you can loop around the Wetlands for slightly different trails. There obvious capability to link to the other trails as well for a longer run including the Westmorland Wetland loop and the other Te Kuru trail.
