This one is perfect for those wanting a shortish but hilly loops course to hone the vert and skills on.

Situated in the East Westmorland Reserve on a neat little local network of trails. Start up from Pentonville across the creek/ flood swale reserve and connect onto the trails into the reserve proper. Pick up the zig zags that connect you to Worsleys and plod up the steep rise alongside the road on open grassland.

When things level out look for the shared mountainbike/ walking trail that dives down into the bush and connects with the gully trails. Cross the stream bed and follow the trail back down the left hand side that heads down steeply and then swings around with a couple of undulations to return you to the bottom of the reserve.

For the second loop take the valley ascent all the way up to the top of Westmorland, loop around the playground and follow the roads through back to the Worsleys Road connection. Return to the start down the roadside trail and zigzag that you came up on the first loop. Awesome views and plenty of steep up and down hill to get the old blood flowing.

Trail Reviews

My first 1 star review. Although the area is good for hill repeats. As an out-of-Towner I had to spend the whole run staring at my phone for direction. Area worth visiting for a run but best to just go exploring rather than follow this particular trail.

Nice loops with beautiful views! Needed the GPX a few times as there were a few trails branching off here and there. Another great local trail.

What a cute bunch of loops! Steep, dont get me wrong, but so varied and so compact and the views are mint. Fantastic for what it is, and waaaay nicer than slogging up (or down) the tarmac on Worsleys Rd like I usually do. Another minor local gem that I would never have learned about without the trail directory.

They must have mown the trails since the previous reviews as it was all nice and clear. Yet another wee loop (or 2) I didn't know about before Wildthings. Good to tack onto one of the other shorter trails in the area if you're out that way. Nice bit of bush cover for some of it.
