The 15km Trail event allows you to experience one of Canterbury's most beautiful trails. The trail is at the base of the mountain so is perfect for those of you not wanting to head up and over Mt Oxford but still want to explore this special part of the country.
The 15km event can be entered as a Run or a Tramp, allowing the opportunity to enjoy the event at your own pace. This is the perfect introduction to trail running - or for a fast time for those of you wanting to test yourselves.

This is a loop course - shaped a bit like a lollipop as the first 5km is effectively an out and back, with a loop at the top (the lollipop loop is 5km). Y
ou start at Coopers Creek and head along the Link Track all the way to the Wharfedale Track. You will come across a junction 5km in - keep going straight ahead here - DO NOT TURN RIGHT. (You will come back to this junction on your return.) The Link Track is great running - lots of small ups and downs with changing native bush scenery along the way. You get some great views of Mt Oxford at the start of this trail.
Once you reach the Wharfedale Track you turn right - don't go through the gate on your left. Turn right and head along the Wharfedale - this is a great fast section with a nice wide trail. A few hundred metres along here you will come to another junction. This is where you will turn right and head along the Koromako Track (which will also head you towards Ryde Falls).
A few km into this section you will come across the turn off to the Ryde Falls - DO NOT go to the falls. Instead continue along the Koromako Track until you get to another junction (this is where you pop back out on to the Link Track - the way you came from). Make sure you turn left here towards Coopers Creek - this is where you started and will complete the loop.
The final 5km of this course is on the same track you started - you get to enjoy the views from a different angle and get some great single track running for the final kms.
Beautiful beech forest. Areas of fern.
If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
