Easy run along the front face of Mt Oxford to Wharfedale Track and back (whilst avoiding all the climbing of Mt Oxford itself)
From the Mountain Road carpark go thru the gate and follow the track left, but instead of crossing the bridge to head up Mt Oxford stay on the true right of the river following the Coopers Creek track. The track is a bit indifferent at first until you leave the farmland and enter the beech forest after 1km. Follow the track for 4km 'til you come to a T junction - take the right hand branch (signposted for Ryde Falls) but stay on the main (Korimako) track at the 6km mark (don't take the right hand branch down to Ryde Falls itself as it's a dead-end track), this will eventually take you thru to the Wharfedale Track at the 7km mark. Turn left on the Wharfedale and follow it down for 500m, turning left again on the 'Link Track' which will take you directly back to the Coopers Creek track, follow this back to the carpark.
Closest public toilet to trailhead: Portaloo at the Coopers Creek carpark (usually has both toilet paper and hand sanitiser, but always good to pack some just in case).

Easy.
Very patchy.
Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map
Zero (would definitely not drink out of the river at the carpark as it's fed from areas with livestock)
Generally good all year, being under canopy and in beech forest means it never gets overly muddy, and low enough to seldom have snow

A great trail run with a cool destination. The trail is very well marked and gets high use. It can get muddy and in late summer the wasps will annoy you, take antihistamines with you just in case.

More technical than anticipated but very fun. Day hikers looked at me in maddness as I zipped through the mud and balanced on the tree roots. Windfall has not yet been remedied on the Korimako Track with this being quite muddy in sections. Despite the description of there being no water on the way, there is some water sources in the creeks that you cross on the Korimako track. There is 2 - 3 before the Ryde Falls turnoff and 1 small creek on the section afterwards as you run towards the Wharfdale. I ended up going to Ryde Falls which was an extra 20min there and back. I found a lovely spot to swim up a seperate side stream before heading back.

Always a pleasure running this trail. Important to carry antihistamine if you are prone to reacting to bee and wasp sting. Today I managed to get stung twice.

This is an absolutely mint run. This afternoon was claggy, low cloud, heavy mud, stones, washouts, storm damaged track with trees down and rooty gnarly slippy bits..perfect little loop if you need a technical -tune up...but I took strapping tape and PLB in case the roots got the better of me 😁 highly recommended if you are keen for a super fun muddy challenge!!

These overlap with this trail to some degree. You may wish to combine them but please note that to qualify for FKTs on these runs you should record a separate activity for each.
