This is a great fun and interesting trail for beginners, take the kids on or a quick dash.
Starting from the carpark, you pass an information board, shelter and toilets and finally the loop start (the Tui trail). Turn right and follow the red marker for the Tui trail as it winds its way up the hill.
Take the right branch along the Rewi Loop track following the blue markers. This will come back onto the Tui track which then passes Pataki's Cave, a family home in the 1800s.
You will next come to the Lowery Shelter (cellphone coverage available from here). Keep on along the track and take the offshoot to the Kaweka lookout which is a stunning view.
The track then winds back down the hill and after a kilometer branches off right onto the Troglodyte track (purple markers). This passes through some amazing rock formations, cutting through a cave. This will take you back onto the Tui track and back to the carpark.
Native fauna and wildlife Caves Views Rock formations.
