Super flowy and totally runnable trail above the Whakapapanui Stream, sheltered amongst the native beech forest. The trail pops out across a short boardwalk to cross a wetland, before reaching the bottom bridge. On a clear day you will be rewarded with a view of Mount Ngāuruhoe, before heading back to the start.
There is a carpark at the bottom, so you could also do this run in the reverse, if you prefer a gradual uphill warmup. This run can also be easily linked & combined with any combo of the Silica Rapids, Whakapapaiti, Hauhangatahi or Mangahuia tracks, to make it any level from beginner, medium to off the dial wild 😁
There are some tiny pitstop/ detours to view the river and golden rapids along the way.
If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
There is a carpark at the trailhead, directly across the road from the fire station. There is also a carpark at the bottom end, if you are wanting to run in the reverse.
