This is a mountain bike park so watch out for other users (bikers, runners, walkers and dogs). Start by gate and head up gravel road to the first track starting on your right. The way around the park as its pretty obvious and not difficult to navigate. You could spend a bit of time looping around to easily extend this beyond 6km. At the highest point there is downhill section that walkers and runners are not allowed (signposted). I respected this despite being in the park by myself and returned back down the hill a slightly different way.

Good views of Wangauni

Easy.

Tracks are signposted and most are two ways. They generally criss-cross a gravel/4WD road that travels the lenght of the park.

Perfect throughout.

No water available. There was a pond I came across as one point but I wouldn't drink from it as image it was formed from farmland runoff.

I went after a period of rain and tracks were still in good condition. However, many are clay based so I could image they would get slippery in winter and possible quite muddy.

Just beware of other users (perhaps don't wear headphones)

Trail Reviews

Great to be able to get over 8k’s in a relatively small area. Will go back with my Mountain bike, should be fun. I liked the way the trails are numbered from 1-11, so you can easily run through them without ending up on the same track or confused on what track to take.

I went back since my first run here and loved it even more. Managed 8kms without repeating a track, so much more than this original trail directory.
