The Goat Hill Track is an out and back that can be run either way but preference is to do the hard work uphill first and then enjoy the free flowing run down on a moderate downhill.

It's a shared path used by mountain bikers and walkers so keep an eye out but you would have to be unlucky to cross any mountain bikes on this fairly remote track.

This track climbs steeply through the native forest to Whangarae Bay Viewpoint, where you will enjoy spectacular views over the Tasman sea and the coastline on a nice day. After reaching the high point (the track doesn't summit goat hill - unmarked), it is a short downhill jog until you make the end of the trail at the roads edge on Goat Hill Saddle. This is where you turn around and head back the way you came back to the start. Feel free to have a rest at any of the view stops along the way down.

Stunning coastal views, Nikau Palms, native birdlife.

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.

A limited number of car parks beside the road and next to the "Welcome to Ōkiwi Bay" fish mural. More car parks at the top of the trail on Croisilles Road.
