Cross the estuary from the carpark and look for the orange markers to stay on route. You follw the track along the coast, at the 2KM mark veer right on the track junction. When you get to the road cross to the other side and run up the hill, there is a gravel track or verge on the left side of cove road going back to Waipu cove. Watch for traffic when running on this section.
There are the amazing Waipu pancake rocks!!! Like the Punakaiki rocks but just in the north island. Plenty of birdlife here also
If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
Good safe parking and plenty of it here although it will be busy in summer and might be harder to find a park with people parking down the road.

Nice short run wth beautiful views. The run down the side of the road is a well maintaned gravel path so nice and safe. If running in the middle of winter when the trail is very wet and muddy do not wear road shoes, unless you like a challenge or are one stubbie short of a six pack like me :).
