Cross the bridge which is behind the toilet and turn left and head up the 4WD track keeping right, cross the irrigation pipe and follow the single track. At the bridge take the right hand trail marked Sawpit Gully, here you start the hill climb. At about 2.8km you will come out of the bush and reach an intersection, here you take a left. If you look straight up you will see Brow Peak, that’s where you’re headed. Head straight up, once you get to the ridgeline turn left and head up to Brow Peak. Enjoy the view and then turn around and enjoy a sensational piece ridgeline running down to the Big Hill Saddle. Then follow the trail up over Big Hill and down the Hayes Creek track down to the Arrow River. Follow the river for a short way keeping an eye out for an orange marker, here you climb a bank out of the river and onto Macetown Rd where you turn right and head back to Arrowtown.

This is a mission that should be well planned out and done in good conditions if possible with friends. We did it on a day that was clear until we got to Brow Peak and then it was foggy along the ridge line. Was still amazing in the moody conditions, but made the course more difficult. The descent via Hayes Creek can be slippery and overgrown in the best of times. Take caution when crossing the river and climbing the trail back up to Macetown Rd.
