The track follows the Cairnmuir DOC track, up and over the Cairnmuir Range. From the start at Cornish Point, you follow the DOC marking up the road and then veer off to the right at the specified sign and head up the hill proper. Follow the markings for the duration of the track which will take you all the way out to Hawksburn Rd. Once you get to Hawksburn Rd, follow the road to the left and downhill until you meet the tarsealed road. Head left on the bitumen, cross the red bridge and you've made it to Clyde!
This trail includes the peak Mount Jackson.
Great views across the Cromwell, Alexandra area.

Great day out. It was overcast the day I did it but there's nowhere to hide up there so pack your sunscreen.
Nice views over Cromwell and Clyde. There are quite a few tracks and options at some points so I was pleased I had the route on my watch.
Really enjoyed this one.

I did it in reverse and had challenges with my navigation at both ends :-( but it's a great traverse which is off the beaten track. I did it mid week and didn't see a single soul. Great views at both ends, well worth it!

Outstanding trail. Great climb out of Cairmuir to the top with fantastic views looking across to Mt Horn and Leaning Rock on Northburn station as well as views leaving Cromwell and looking down on Clyde as you descend. Definitely take plenty of water. A must do if youre in the area.
