After leaving your car or bike on the very last carpark just easy follow the gravel road along the Lake Hawea. After about 2 km the road becomes very exposed with an amazing view of the lake. After another couple of kms you will get a great view of Silver Island. Continue another 4 km until the gate with DOC sign pointing left. That leads on to the beach with toilet and nice picnic spots. Now you can continue further through the single track to DIngle Burn camp or even further or go back.

View of the Lake, rarely visited spot.

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
