The track is well sign-posted so navigation shouldn't cause any problems. It can be very, very busy in summer. It is not recommended during winter because of snow and ice. There is a toilet 200m from the carpark. There is no water available so take your own. Also, make sure you take a wind proof jacket and other warm clothing as, even in mid summer, the temperatures at the summit can be very low. In mid-Jan I had a jacket, woolly hat and gloves as well as full length leggings. It was freezing at the top! A good level of fitness is required as this is a challenging walk/run.
This trail includes the peak Roys Peak.
If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
Parking is available at the Roys Peak Carpark. In January at 9am it was nearly impossible to find a park as this is a very popular trail. Get there early!

One of those bucket list trails if you are in the area. Hard slog up there, but the views are incredible.

One of the best views you will get in New Zealand without having to go too far out of town. Was lucky that when we arrived today it was not busy and we got the track pretty much to ourselves on the way up and minimal traffic on the way down.
