Enter the park on the track which follows the park boundary for approximately 10 mins. Track takes a left turn and starts climbing. There are a few smaller streams to cross but it is generally well marked. If you want to shorten the run you can take the track turnoff at approximately 4km to the Mangoraka car park. I turned off to the Kaiau carpark but you can continue all the way to North Egmont via the Ram track but this section is currently closed following a slip. I returned via the road but you can follow the track back down or if you get up to North Egmont then follow the Veronica track down to Mangoraka carpark.
Nice track following the Waiwhakaiho River

After storms the track can suffer considerable damage from downed trees. Also watch out for the streams to have to cross following significant rain on the mountain as they can rise quickly.
A few small streams to cross and normally lots of mud about.

The run back down the road isn't super fun, would have preferred to just do an out and back in the bush
