Nice flowy loop linking up the best of the easy and intermediate mountain tracks. Starting at the main carpark and facing the lake, head left along the gravel track and follow this main wide access route down to the bridge (there are some smaller tracks leading off at the top - don't take these although they will eventually take you to the same place).

Continue over the bridge and along the gravel track to the first track on your right "EASY UP", follow this to the top and turn right again to stay on it. Turn left at the T-junction, then right onto "GOBBLERS RETURN". Run all the way down to "JUMPS TRACK" and turn left. Go right onto "LOVERS LANE" and left onto "BIG WILLY" (lakeside).

Near the end of the lake take the small track to the left ("MIRO") and head up to "FENCE LINE". There's a seat and a nice view of the Kaimai's on a clear day.

From here turn right down "SNAKE" (marked by big blue arrow), all the way down to the access road. Follow the road down to the ford and turn left onto "TWO TIMER". Follow this loop around to the access road and left onto BIG WILLY to head back to the carpark.

Please run in the direction stated as it is popular mountain bike park and can be busy on evenings/ weekends. This route ensures you go in the same direction as cyclists. Check signs and note direction of travel! Have dogs on lead or under control.

Long drop at the carpark.

Plenty of off road parking. No public transport available. Toilet and water available at carpark.

Moderate.

Generally good.

Long-sleeved thermal top, Seam-sealed waterproof jacket, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Survival bag, Cellphone, Map, Headtorch and spare batteries

Tap at the carpark.

Can get slippery after rain. Fords may be uncrossable after heavy rain. Probably not good in very windy conditions looking at amount of treefall.
