Note Success sign nailed to tree and continue straight. Don't via right. Follow an old Bulldozed track initially up through exotic forest for a couple of km.
There will be a couple of bench seats at good viewing points before getting into native re-growth and old mining country with a few remnants of mining still visible. Keep left if you notice the junction that goes to the Whangapoua Route.
The track is easy to follow to the Summit and can be extended North along the range if you wish.
Return the way you came.
This trail includes the peak Kaipawa.

Some confusion could be had at the start of the track at the junction with a little side walk. Keep left/straight. You should see a pretty Low key "Success Track" sign fixed to a pine tree.
Closer to the top there will be another junction. Keep left as right skirts the summit to the Whangapoua Route.
Generally good.
Windproof jacket, First aid kit, Cellphone, Headtorch and spare batteries
Water in creek crossings.
If you decide to venture into any mine drives be aware of shafts!
Lower track is hard clay which can be pretty greasy in the wet.
