The Bulk of this run will be on grunty single track under the cover of stunning native bush.

It starts by leading you through the MTB tracks of the valley loop before you start to tackle you first gravel road climb up to Pukapuka Track, this is a technical 6 km track, once completed you'll pop out turn right on Lilburne Rd and head to Piggots Hut, where there is Tank Water (20km) in.

Make your way back into the bush turning right onto Rata Ridge track. The next junction will take you turning left, onto Mangatangi Ridge Track up Kohukohunui Trig Track. Follow the orange triangle markers and boarded signs.

Once at K Trig you'll continue down Kohukohunui Track and get to rest the legs on a nice downhill trail (all be it with stairs) down to Mine Rd. Come out of the wash area and turn left for 100m on the gravel road before entering back into the bush.

Prepare yourself for Mine Track, a 1km decent and a 1km climb that will eat you up. Turn right at the top as you join up with Upper Mangatawhiri Track another couple of km and you will come to Ernie's Track, most of your climbing is now complete as you descend to Ernie's turn right onto Water Line Rd, for 3 km of gravel rd back to where it all began.

This trail includes the peaks Kohukohunui and Pukapuka.

Auckland's highest point Kohukohunui Trig (K Trig)

At the car park and at Piggots camp (20km)

Good Council gravel parking area, next to info board/map and toilets.
