From the car park follow the signposted trail across open farmland and start climbing. Before long you'll enter the bush and the trail becomes GNARLY and gets steeper! Just keep following it all the way to the summit, running occasionally if you can!
After drinking in the views you can take a slightly different route off the top by exiting the summit area from the opposite side to the way you entered. This takes you throw scrub and along a short ridge section, before it drops down steeply to join the trail you came up on. Turn left when you hit this and follow downhill back to the car park.

This trail includes the peak Tauhara.

Great 360 views from the summit - pick a clear day for this one!

If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.

Plenty of parking, reasonably safe but take valuables with you or leave out of sight just to be sure.

Easy.

Stick to the main trail up and down rather than using the slight variation described if you're in any doubt

Generally good.

Long-sleeved thermal top, Windproof jacket, Gloves, Beanie/thermal headwear, Whistle, First aid kit, Extra food for emergencies, Cellphone, Map

None - take your own

Can be very muddy after rain, snow possible in winter. You're on the Central Plateau and it can be cold any time of year!

It's a very rough, root bush trail for the most part so take care with your footing, especially in the wet

Great food & coffee, always busy for good reason.
