Enter the track by following the Onemana Reserve in a northerly direction, climb up the short steep grassy slope and you will see the track. Once on the track turn left after approximately 2 km on Pokohino Rd. This forestry road will take you to the sealed road you drove on into Onemana. At this intersection you can of course turn left and run down the hill to Onemana Beach, making your run approximately 6km. Alternatively cross over to Peninsula Road which is just over 6.5 km to the end where there is a short single track loop with good views over the Whangamata surf bar. Take the same road back for a longer run, enjoy!
A large part of this run takes you through pine tree plantations so not much to see. However, there are occasional natural picture windows out to sea.
If you know of any public toilets near the trail start or on the route, please login and then let us know so we can update this section.
There are three public spaces to park your vehicle in Onemana. This run starts from the first carpark you see when entering Onemana, i.e. by the pedestrian bridge to the reserve.

A good introduction to what Onemana Forest has to offer. The out and back on Peninsula Road turns around at a random point which I can only assume was chosen to bring the distance to 10km. Once you're back in town don't miss the left turn into Tuna Place which takes you through a lovely little bit of bush.
