Lovely loop run that is a deviation from Boulder Hill, so can be extended onto Boulder Hill summit and other trails in Belmont if desired and the Puke Ariki traverse. The loop starts with an uphill trail and then is undulating around the loop as it connects with Boulder Hill track for the descent back down to the carpark.

Nature Reserve

Public toilets in dry creek campground by the carpark.

Car park with plenty of spaces. Be aware the gate closes overnight - times for opening/closing are by the entrance

Easy.

From the car park walk along the road and then follow the track on the right hand side with yellow gate uphill. When you meet the Boulder Hill track turn left to head back downhill towards the carpark.

Generally good.

Beware of slippery trail surfaces and some of the trail has lots uneven and rocky footing

Trail Reviews

Great little fitness tester - steep to start with and undulating throughout. Possibly easier in reverse, but a nice, pretty loop on four wheel drive track. A bit boggy in places after rain. Views aren't super good - much better if you take the track to Boulder Hill

I ran it anti-clockwise. A tough early climb but once that's out the way it's a nice mix of terrain.

I'll be using this route as a fitness tester to hopefully see improvement.

The carpark at the start is not very big but you can park at the nearby Manor Park train station carpark which adds about 1km on to the run.
