This route is another choice to reach Belmont Trig with a steeper gradient.
Start at Korokoro Stream bridge entrance, follow the riverside track for 3km to the first trail split and take the left branch towards Bake Beans Bend and Belmont Trig summit.
Keep following this trail with a gradual incline to the next split at approximately 4km which is signposted. Take the left trail towards Bridleway.
This has an initial downhill and undulating track before entering a steep 2km climb. Much of this is at 20-30% gradient and often a bit more overgrown than the more direct route to the summit.
Once you finish the main climb, you will see Belmont Trig to the right. Follow this route up to the trig, then continue past this with a view of Petone and the sea below. Alternatively, you can take a right and go up the shallower gradient route to Belmont Trig, and come back down the steeper bridleway trail.
Once completing the top loop, follow the trail you came up on back to the starting point at the Korokoro stream bridge entrance.
This trail includes the peak Belmont.
Great single trail next to the river and through a peaceful forest. Fantastic views from the top.

Great loop - nice alternative to the more direct up/down to the Belmont Trig. I didn't read the instructions very well and looked for the bridlepath track at the Baked Beans picnic area, despite having passed it several times. The bridleway starts about 100m up from Baked Beans bend. Super views. I was a bit lucky as the bridleway had been mowed the day I ran it (in fact I passed the mower at the top). It looks like it could get a bit overgrown.

These overlap with this trail to some degree. You may wish to combine them but please note that to qualify for FKTs on these runs you should record a separate activity for each.
