Head out from the start on well groomed 4WD track. After about 600m the well groomed bit goes right, but you carry on straight ahead. Lovely wide single trail (ex 4WD) under a canopy of natives which then turns into true single trail by the river and climbs steadily to the tunnel entrance. The tunnel is open to the other end and is generally about 7' high... shoe depth water flows through steadily and there are a few glow-worms. To complete this trail you need to get to the very end of the tunnel where there is a barrier you can peek over and then return.
350m Miners Tunnel - head torch required!

The height of the water in the tunnel is pretty consistent regardless of weather, but if uncertain then call in to the DOC office on the main street.

I wish I could be a glow worm, a glow worm’s never glum. ‘Cause how can you be glum, when the sun shines out your bum! 🐛

I did part of this today but turned around before the tunnel due to time restraints. Fantastic little find.

Fun wee track, definitely recommend it. Not usually fond of tunnels or caves but this was neat and easy using good head torch.

This was so worth it. Never knew it existed until our Franz accomodation mentioned it so off we went. Tunnels are cool but a bit scary for the kids. Great all weather option in Franz.
